The countdown begins for the 2024 edition of the European Researchers' Night, the event created in 2005 at the instigation of the EU Commission and which for 2024 will be celebrated across Europe on Friday, September 27. Leading players of the Night will be like researchers who will bring experiments and demonstrations to the squares, to bring citizens closer to science and the world of research.

Many events are also planned in Tuscany, with the city of Pisa and its institutions at the forefront, where the event is named BRIGHT-NIGHT, combining the acronym "Brilliant Researchers Impact on Growth Health and Trust in Research" with the word night.

Promoters of the event are the Tuscan universities (Universities of Florence, Pisa, Siena, Stranieri di Siena, Sant'Anna School, Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca), along with a wide network of research institutions-including the Pisa Research Area of the National Research Council (CNR), the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the European Gravitational Observatory (EGO), and the INAF Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory - with the support of the Tuscany Region, as part of the Giovanisì project.

The brightest night of the year will be brought to life in the squares of our cities by workshops, experiments, demonstrations, talks and performances. Guided tours of museums and laboratories are also planned, with research sites opening to the public. Not forgetting children, who will find a rich calendar of proposals designed especially for them, as well as schools, which in many cities will be involved in specific activities.
New for 2024 is the theme "BRIGHT Women," a special focus dedicated to research and studies that promote women's well-being and empowerment and that, like a common thread, will unite squares throughout Tuscany, with a common event scheduled in Florence.

The BRIGHT-NIGHT project is an associated event of the European Commission's HORIZON-MSCA-2023-CITIZENS-01 program.
